Evening folks!
I'm posting now instead of before bed because I'm a tired momma and just might retire with the chickens tonight....lol. I told you guys a few days ago that we were in the process of getting snowed in, and boy, did we...8 inches covered our area and the roads were a mess. The kids loved it because they didn't have school and had a big snow to play in.
Okay, so I hate the wet clothes mess and the tracks of snow through the house, but my 13-year-old and all his friends in the neighborhood gathered for some sleigh riding. It was all good until about 2pm yesterday when my son took a spill off the sled.
He walked into the house holding his arm and said "Mom, I think we have a problem". Okay, yeah, big problem because I could see the bone sticking up on his arm. So I jumped up and threw some clothes on, changed him out of his wet clothes, and off we went to the hospital. The hospital actually got him in pretty quick, but we knew it wasn't good when the x-ray tech cringed when she saw his arm.
The doctor confirmed that it was fractured. We left about three hours later with his arm in a soft cast and some pain meds that should have knocked him out. I say should have because he was hurting so bad that we were up half the night. I finally gave up, gave him my bed, and got on the computer...lol.
This morning we called the orthopedist and went to see him this afternoon. The orthopedist said he fractured his radius bone (the big one) at the wrist. You could see the fracture on the x-ray really easy. It started on the outside of the bone, went through his growth plate, and continued to the other side of the growth plate. It came really close to being a full break.
They put him in a cast and of course there is no lifting for the next few weeks, but he should be all healed in about 5 weeks. This is good news because baseball season starts soon...lol.
So while I was up last night I made a mini kit for you guys. This kit is totally free this weekend for anyone that wants it. Links will be removed Monday, so be sure to grab it this weekend.
I've gone RED in this kit to help promote the American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women" day. The kit is filled with hearts and lace and of course all done in the color of red.

Also hope your son is feeling better & its going to be hard to keep him from doing anything!!!!
TYVM for the wonderful RED yummies!
I can relate to the busted arm, only my son's was in 3rd grade during school & he fell off of the icy playground equipment so hard that when he landed one bone snapped, twisted & smashed through the other bone. ALMOST landed hard enough to break through the skin. Took a 6 inch metal pin surgically inserted, 4 casts, & 16 weeks to get it healed.
Hope your son feels better soon & you can get some rest!!
Thank you so much for this Freebie. I want to let you know that I posted a link to your blog in Creative Busy Hands Scrapbook Freebies Search List, under the Kit(s) post on Feb. 07, 2009. Thanks again.
