Bits N Pieces Of QueenBrat Designs: New Release: Heaven Bound

As most of you know I had a son that battled ulcerative cholitis and sclerosing cholangitis for the past 12 years. He had a colectomy several years ago to remove his colon which had become cancerous and did quite well until November of 2013. In November he started going into liver failure do to the sclerosing cholangitis. His doctors treated him with a stint in the bile ducts of the liver and began preparing him for a liver transplant. The stint worked well until April of this year. My son fell ill around the 13th of April and declined rapidly. He passed away at the University of Kentucky of liver failure on May 5, 2014 at the age of 30. Needless to say I am heartbroken. He was my first born, my sidekick, and my protector. He never had the opportunity to go to college, or live on his own, or get married, or even have children. The entire extent of his adult life was spent battling this horrible disease. There was no "partying", or being reckless and taking chances, or any of the other things teens and young adults do as they emerge into adulthood. He fought a long and brave battle to just survive and I would have given anything to see him get the transplant that would have saved his life.

I've taken the last few weeks to try to pull myself together. My son's death brought out the worst behavior imaginable in my ex-husband and his family, so I have also had to deal with all of their vicious remarks and behavior. My other children have all but disowned their father and his family over this and it's been a very ugly life to have to deal with lately.

Thankfully, I have a very loving and supportive family that has been at my side and paid the funeral cost to take some of the stress off of me. I could not have made it through this without them. And after many, many long talks with my Momma I'm trying to pull myself together enough to get back to work. She has been my rock through this all!
